How Matterport Scans Work for Builders

The process is simple.
We scan your build at the right time, and you get a permanent 3D record you can use anytime.
Most scans take 1–2 hours and don’t interfere with your schedule. Below is the matterport scan process.

Utah Matterport Services for Builders

Step 1: Schedule at the right stage

The best time to scan is during the 4-way inspection stage—before insulation and drywall.

At this point:

  • Framing is complete
  • Plumbing and electrical are installed
  • HVAC is in place
  • Everything is still visible

Step 2: We scan the property

We come to the job site and scan the entire structure using Matterport.

  • Typical scan time: 1–2 hours
  • No disruption to your crew
  • No prep required (most builders tidy up a bit)

We move room to room capturing the full layout and all visible systems.

Step 3: You receive your scan

After processing, you’ll receive a link to your Matterport walkthrough.

You can:

  • Open it on your phone or computer
  • Navigate through the entire house
  • Zoom in on specific areas
  • Share access with your team or subcontractors

Step 4: Use it whenever you need it

Your scan becomes a long-term reference for the project.

Use it to:

  • Locate plumbing or electrical later
  • Answer subcontractor questions
  • Plan upgrades or repairs
  • Avoid cutting into walls blindly

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s your turnaround time?

Most scans are delivered within 24 hours. If you need faster turnaround, we can usually accommodate.

How do I access my scans?

Your Matterport scan is hosted online and available anytime. You have a google doc with a list of all the scans we’ve done for you.

  • No software required
  • Works on phone, tablet, or desktop
  • Easy to share with your team

Does this slow down the job site?

No. Our matterport scan process is non-invasive and doesn’t interfere with work. As long as I can scan before the insulators are scheduled, we’re good.

Do I need to prep the house?

No, we can scan the house as is, although most builders like to have their crew tidy up a bit so the scan looks nice for the home owner.

How big of a project can you scan?

There is no limit to the size of the house we can scan, and we price the scan based on square footage.

What areas do you serve?

We provide Matterport scans across:

  • Salt Lake City
  • Ogden
  • Layton
  • Farmington
  • Weber County

Ready to schedule your scan?

If you know approximately when you’re expecting to be at 4-way inspection, now is the time to book. We can always adjust the booking date as we get closer, that’s normal for construction projects.
